In the Details

I once had a best friend who used to say, "God is in the details."

I thought very fondly of that last night as I wandered the aisles of (cringe!) Wal-Mart searching out all the little necessities for Missy's wedding this weekend.

The list in my mind was a scribbly version of this:

-red lipstick
-red lipliner
-red polish
-concealer
-powder
-bobby pins
-mascara
-rat-tail comb (I don't think this is the proper name, it's just was I grew up hearing it as)
-black eye shadow
-new black liner brush

I have hot rollers and a curling iron, black liquid liner, a black feathery hair piece and a sexy black dress.

Does one actually need more than that to create a pin-up look? Oh, darling shoes, of course. Peep toe, d'orsay, and a bow adornment. Oh yes, yes, yes.

I know Missy was trying to casualize the event and make it comfortable and fun for everyone, and here I am so excited about playing dress up, like a little girl left to herself at her mother's vanity table. A vanity table - that's something I was obsessed with as a little girl, and something I've never owned. I'm slapping that on my "To Get When I Own A House Again" list right now.

Tomorrow brings our courthouse trip and (I hope!) photo session. I cannot tell you how incredibly stoked I am. I have so many, many ideas for Missy and Clyde, to fit in with their retro/rockabilly/pin-up theme.

"God is in the details" - tomorrow and Saturday, he really will be.
