Big Update!

Wow, I really haven't blogged since March?!?! What has happened?

Well, I can tell you that I've been extremely busy, which is an extremely glorious thing.

Major changes have happened, and there's a lot of scoops to dig into. Finding a starting point isn't exactly easy, and overwhelming you with miles of bloggage doesn't seem reasonable. So here's my attempt at breaking up all the info into bite-size paragraphs for you!

Gallery and Printing Upgrade
I was renting out space and services at Pictage.com. However, they are an expensive service and I was continually frustrated with not only the cost to me, but the cost to you. Plus at such a high cost, services were also limited. 90 day photo galleries? Blah. While I did enjoy some of the features they offered, I wasn't really thrilled overall and decided to switch.

I now have a premiere gallery site located at www.armsupphotography.com. The site is driven by Zenfolio.com and I couldn't be happier with the customization or the service. My profile is more robust and more personal, my watermarks are my own, my galleries can have personal links, and ordering is still available directly from your galleries. Amazing stuff there, and I am thrilled at the price. One whole year for what I was paying PER MONTH at Pictage.com! If you are interested in your own photo gallery, here's a coupon code for Zenfolio.com: M57-TMU-DMZ

Also albums are not limited to Pictage.com's selection, so variety has blossomed into darn near infinity. Whatever album you're dreaming of, I can get it for you!

Camera Upgrade
All my work prior to June was shot with a Nikon D90 and selection of lenses. Her name is Mira and she is one of my beloved little children, as much as my two sons Kadin and Max, and my darling puppy dog, Chloe. The D90 is quite a trooper of a camera, and I highly recommend it as a prosumer or second camera option. Coupled with stellar glass (that means 'a great lens' in photog-lingo), the D90 with give you results. <--PERIOD. Lovely results. I know from personal experience.

So why the upgrade? Well, I love to push the envelope. I love dramatic lighting. I love details. I love big fat creamy sensors. And that's what it came down to. Mira (the D90) has a DX sensor, which is a cropped format and a lot of other technical jargon the basic reader here won't understand. Basically, it's smaller. The sensor is smaller and can't process as much information about the photo as Nikon's FX sensor cameras. I dreamed, ached, and pined over an FX format camera.

So I bought one.

In mid-June I added Tomi to my family, a Nikon D700 (which I chose purposely over the D3 because I'm only 5'1" and a wuss and primarily shoot events lasting up to 10 hours - the D3, etc are BEASTLY). She is absolutely beautiful. I have a 50mm and the 24-70mm lenses for her, and though it was quite an upgrade and quite an investment, every penny was well-spent. Tomi and Mira are truly a Power Duo.

Photos, Photos, Photos!
I'll let them speak for themselves.
